My December Birchbox!

Viewing an endless number of blogs over the past few years, I kept reading about
Birchbox -  a cute little box with four to five hand-picked luxury samples that
gets delivered each month for only $10 (per month)!
Subscribers receive points for every box, and once points start adding up,
they can be used to purchase full-sized products on the Birchbox website.
When signing up, they ask questions about what you're interested in sampling,
so it's very personalized which is great.  I signed up near the end of
November and got my first Birchbox within two weeks.
Obviously I was a little slow with posting about it, but here we are.
Better late then never!

1) amika Obliphica Hair Treatment  (regular size $34)
I was so excited to see this product when I opened my Birchbox because my straightener is made by amika! This oil treatment is perfect for before or after heat styling! Only a few drops adds shine, nourishes hair, and diminishes frizzes.  Plus, the smell is phenomenal.  I have a few spots on my head of especially frizzy hair, and this treatment left those problem areas very smooth.

2) AHAVA Mineral Body Lotion (regular size $24)
This lotion left my skin super soft! This mineral body lotion is super smooth because it's a light moisturizer and it sinks into the skin really quickly.  My favorite part about this product is actually the scent.  The natural aloe and witch hazel extracts leave a very fresh, energizing scent!

3) Incoco Nail Polish Applique (regularly $7.99 - $10.99)
When I opened my Birchbox I was not loving the print that I got for these nail polish appliques. But, I have used products like this in the past and had great results so I was happy to try out a new brand.
I also checked Incoco's website and found that they
have a good selection of other nail prints that I am a fan of.
I haven't had the chance to use these yet, but the application process looks easier
than other nail applique products I've used.

4) Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink (regular size $20)
I love the fuchsia shade of this lip gloss, but found it to be more sticky than moisturizing.  I did like that there was no glitter, and that it's thin enough to apply one coat for a semi-sheer pigment, or build it for a hot pink shade.  I probably wouldn't spend $20 on it though.

Unfortunately, I was clicking through the Birchbox website earlier today and discovered they are currently SOLD OUT of subscriptions! :( But..there is a waiting list! I would definitely recommend
hopping on that list, because this is a great way to try out new products and possibly
find something you'll fall in love with!

UPDATE!
Here are some more ideas of how to wear colored jeans...
Over the weekend I purchased a pair of cobalt blue and kelly green jeans
from my work and I'm anxious to wear them!

Me in my new cobalt blue jeans from Wet Seal! What do you think of these outfit ideas?

Pastel jeans are in this spring season too!
This is my manager and fellow fashionista Terra
rocking Wet Seal's turquoise pair.

Hope the rest of everyone's weekend is spectacular!

Spring 2012 Trend Alert - Color Blocking

Color blocking is not a new trend, in fact it was very popular in Spring and Summer 2011.
But this trend is back and brighter then ever before!
For those of you that haven't heard of color blocking, the basic concept is to
wear 2-3 solid contrasting colors in an outfit.  But as Glamour.com warns, wear more than
3 colors and you may start looking like Rainbow Brite!
(But it all depends on the pairing choice, so don't think that's a rule!)

One of the easiest ways to begin wearing this trend in winter weather
is to buy the hottest item in retail right now- colored jeans!
Click the pictures to find the looks you love!

Forever 21

I know that Old Navy, American Eagle, and Wet Seal
all have a wide selection of colored jeggings/jeans as well!

Pair these colored bottoms with a bold colored top to achieve the color blocking trend.
Some great options are:
Old Navy

This top would look super cute with pretty much any colored jeans
and maybe a bright colored necklace!
Old Navy

My coworker Shayla has this shirt, and I loved it on her! She wore hers with basic denim,
but they would also look awesome with royal blue bottoms!

If you're not so daring and are wanting to ease into the trend, I would suggest pairing your colored jeans with basic colors such as black and white clothing like these celebrities did:

Happy color blocking! :)

2012 Golden Globes Faves

This past Sunday, the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hills, California.
The red carpet is almost as important as the actual award show!
This years biggest red carpet trend
were blush and nude colored dresses.

Kate Beckinsale in a Roberto Cavalli
Heidi Klum in Calvin Klein Collection

My favorite red carpet 2012 Golden Globes looks go to.....
the Glee Girls!
Dianna Agron and Lea Michele

Lea Michele turned heads on the red carpet in this Marchesa gown,
Jimmy Choo shoes and jewels from Lorraine Schwartz.

Dianna Agron wowed the crowd in this bright red flowing gown from J. Mendel.

My Runner-Ups:

Michelle Williams in a navy and black Jason Wu dress.

Emma Stone in a fuchsia Lanvin gown.

Who do you think was best dressed at the Golden Globes this year?
